options (as in computer software settings)

Heat shield: Avoids the problem of frequent trap operation due to excessive heat loss from exposure to low temperatures or wind and rain.

restrictive condition

Maximum valve body design conditions PN40
PMA Maximum Allowable Pressure 40 bar g
TMA Maximum Allowable Temperature 400°C
PMO Maximum Working Pressure under Saturated Steam 25 bar g
TMO Maximum Operating Temperature 400°C
Maximum cold test pressure 60 bar g

Note: Under operating conditions, the maximum operating back pressure must not exceed the inlet pressure of 80%, otherwise the trap will not close.

Clean or replace filters

Loosen the strainer cover with a wrench, remove the strainer and clean it, replacing it with a new one if it is damaged. To reassemble, insert the strainer into the cap and screw in the bonnet. Apply a small amount of molybdenum disulphide lubricant to the front part of the threads and take care to ensure that the gasket surface is clean. Finally, tighten the filter cover to the recommended torque.

Ordering Instructions

Example: 1 - Spirax Sarco 1/2" TD25 thermodynamic steam trap with threaded connection BSP.

How to order

Pressure disks (set of 3), strainers and gaskets, heat shields, filter cover gaskets (set of 3)

mounting

The trap should preferably be installed on a horizontal pipe with a small drop upstream, and a shut-off valve must be installed to allow for maintenance and replacement. In addition, there should be a suitable means of checking that the trap is working properly, either through a sight glass or a spiratec system. The sight glass must be installed at least 1 m downstream of the spray-type trap. Traps discharging into a closed return system should be followed by a check valve to prevent backflow. Remove all packaging and protective covers and ensure that all connections are clean and unobstructed. Slowly open the shut-off valve until it reaches normal operating conditions - this prevents system shock. Check the trap for leakage and proper operation. Use the correct tools, safety measures and protective equipment at all times.
If a heat shield is fitted, remove the heat shield and then loosen the bonnet with a standard wrench, taking care not to use an adjustable wrench or pipe wrench as this may damage the bonnet. If the disc and seat surfaces are slightly worn, use abrasive paste and grind the disc and seat individually with a "figure of eight" grinding motion. If the wear is so great that it cannot be repaired by grinding, the seat surfaces will need to be machined and polished. Note: Replacement of the disk with a new one is required. The thickness of the grinding must not exceed 0.25 mm. When reassembling, the slotted side of the disc is in contact with the seat surface and the bonnet is screwed on tightly without the use of gaskets, but should be coated with a suitable anti-temperature grease.
