Spirax Sarco LP30 Self-Monitoring Level Sensor

Description

The Spirax Sarco Spirax Sarco LP30 Self-Monitoring Liquid Level Sensor is used in conjunction with the Spirax Sarco LC3050 Liquid Level Controller to implement a highly accurate self-monitoring low level alarm function for steam boilers. It consists of a sensor body (wire plug removable) and a separate sensor probe. The sensor probe is threaded into the sensor body and is secured by a locking nut and pin, forming a ground loop from the sensor body. Under normal operating conditions, the inductor probe is partially immersed and has a low resistance to ground; when the water level falls below the inductor probe, the resistance to ground becomes high, causing the controller to give an alarm signal for a low water level. The comparison probe then compensates for any leakage of resistance to ground due to scale, contaminants or internal water droplets, thus ensuring that the correct low level alarm signal is detected even under adverse conditions.

mounting

• The sensor is designed to be used with the Spirax Sarco LC3050 controller. Normally for steam boilers two sensors and controllers are required to be installed to give one low and two low alarms respectively.
• When installed in a boiler or in a tank with strong disturbances, a protection pipe is required.
• WARNING: The probe of the LP30 Inductor must not come into contact with any part of the boiler. The standard requirement is that the distance between the probe and the protective tube is at least 14 mm. this must be checked when installing the inductor. Clearance checking parts are available from Spirax Sarco, part number No. 4024781.
