Description
Spirax Sarco Spirax Sarco steam injectors IN15, IN25M, IN40M use steam to heat water or other fluids. In operation, the jet of steam draws the fluid through the annular orifice, mixes it, and then sprays the heated hot water into the tank. The circulation caused by the jets ensures adequate mixing and avoids temperature stratification differences. Three sizes of injectors are available for a very wide range of applications. The smallest, the IN15, is available with internal/external threads and can be mounted directly on the tank wall or piped into the tank, while the IN25M and IN40M are available in external threads and butt-welded versions for mounting in the same way as the IN15. where higher flow rates are required, it is possible to mount two or more ejectors in parallel.

Flow Rate - Selecting a Steam Injector
Steam ejectors are selected based on steam flow rate. The data in the table below is based on an open tank with a depth of 3 m. The choice of control valve will also affect the steam flow rate. For higher flow rates, two or more injectors can be arranged horizontally.
Installation Precautions
The injector is mounted lower in the tank, preferably in the centerline, and injects steam horizontally. The piping can be inside or outside the tank. The steam piping must be well secured against vibration and stress on the tank walls. It is recommended that a suitable adhesive be used for threaded connections.
The caliber of the pipe is the same as the caliber of the injector, e.g., 25mm pipe for IN25M injector. For multiple injectors, the pipe caliber is as follows.

A distance of at least 150mm should be ensured between the two injectors, or between the injectors and the wall of the tank, while the outlet of the injectors should be as far away from the wall of the tank as possible. See Installation and Maintenance Guide for details.

The following table gives the steam flow rate for an open tank, ejector/valve/controller combination. Values not in the table can be calculated by linear interpolation. For specific applications, please contact Spirax Sarco engineers.
The table below is only an example, and valve/controller combinations may not work in some markets. Note: Steam pressure will be greatly reduced in the ejector, so if the control valve is too small (or the ejector too large) it will result in poor injection and mixing.
