Description
The Spirax Sarco BT6-B Clean Pressure Balance Steam Trap is designed for clean and pure system trapping and can be used for sterilizers, main line traps, CIP/SIP systems and process lines. The valve body is made of 316L stainless steel and the seat is tilted at 15° to ensure self-venting. The temperature sensing element is extremely sensitive to condensate temperature, and the discharge temperature is close to saturation temperature, within 2°C below saturated steam for typical clean applications with steam pressures below 2.5 barg. Each trap is individually packaged in a clean environment with inlet and outlet covers and sealed in a plastic bag.

Installation Tips
The BT6-B is designed to be mounted vertically with the flow direction facing downward to ensure self-venting of the valve body. Check the flow direction indicator arrow on the valve body during installation. Gaskets and mounting clamps are not supplied with the product. A section of cooling tubing must be left upstream to prevent condensate from accumulating on process equipment during normal operation. The temperature sensing element must not be subjected to excessive heat conditions. All parts should be handled with care to prevent damage to the machined surfaces.

The working element is a stainless steel bladder filled with temperature-sensitive liquid. When cold or starting up, the liquid capsule is in a relaxed state and the spool valve seat is fully open, allowing the discharge of large quantities of air, condensate and IP media. When the system temperature approaches saturated steam temperature, the liquid in the bladder expands, closing the valve and preventing steam leakage. The closing temperature is close to the saturated steam temperature to ensure effective drainage of the system.
